During the evening of January 6, 2016, the FPSO Turritella, owned by SBM, a client of AMS, and chartered to Shell USA, achieved a remarkable "first" in the FPSO industry.

This FPSO is manned with a marine crew of US seafarers employed by AMS. The AMS crew together with crewmembers employed by other contractors and SBM themselves, successfully connected the FPSO to its mooring system in the Stones Field, Gulf of Mexico.

There is nothing particularly remarkable about that until you consider the water depth of the Stones Field - it is some 9,500 feet deep, and is the deepest location of any FPSO anywhere in the world! The mooring system is designed such that the FPSO will disconnect from its mooring upon the approach of a hurricane and reconnect once the hurricane has passed.

Our congratulations to the AMS crew of Turritella for the contribution they made to this significant achievement. We also applaud the technical and operational achievement by SBM who designed and constructed this unique Turret and Buoy mooring arrangement for Turritella and who successfully managed its connection.
